@mmm281664 but it wont be ahead as teh zr1 due to a numerous of things.
March 9th, 2010 at 6:53 pm
@mmm281664 you are right, good analysus thats exactly whats happenining. carroll shelby can fix that by adding bigger and wider tires. this would do 2 things, 1 it will add more friction which creates more traction and 2 it will translate the mechanical power of the tires into forward energy or acceleration. the gtr will still have a quicker lauch due to electronics and AWD but the shelby will be able to catch up and ended up ahead like the zr1. true, the price will go up much more on the gt500.

I think its 2 reasons, the super snake struggles to put all that power down and convert it into forward traction. It spins its wheels in 1st and 2nd gears.This gives the GTR which is virtually wheel spin free a big advantage..Whats the old saying power is nothing with out control. Also the GTR changes gears in 0.06 sec which is much faster the the Super snake giving it another few seconds advantage. Power alone is now not enough, technlogy is also needed.

@GTSRBOY if u re-watch the video it mentions the gtr has sticky tires and the mustang did not.. im not sayin the mustang would have won with radials, just stating that it would have been a closer race.. gtr is a launchin machine im not argueing that, its allwhell drive, with a launch setting.. that bein said i wasnt makin an argument.. i was stating a fact, and all that fact was is ” the supersnake would do better with drag radials” end of story.
March 9th, 2010 at 10:23 pm
@604KINGfiveohh Your argument is really bad. Your saying if the mustang had better tires it would do better, ok then what if the GTR had better tires? If the car cant put its power to the ground thats Fords fault, the GTR was designed to put its power down and you can see the result, despite having 100 less hp, it won by a noticeable margin
March 9th, 2010 at 11:08 pm
then put the same radials on the GTR i bet it will still win and launch control wasn’t on the GTR i do’t think lol.
March 9th, 2010 at 11:16 pm
Fuck you Motortrend.. You obviously cant get it through your fucking thick skulls that you need to put drag radials on the supersnake for any sort of compairson.. i can barely hook up with street tire in a 1/8 in my 88 gt, and isnt even in the same ballpark as the supersnake

No not blind at all dude. The base Corvette and the Grand Sport just about mirror each other in performance…it’s even stated in the reviews. I would say given the weight/horsepower ratio of both the Shelby and the C6 that they are pretty evenly matched. The Shelby is a much bigger car thus needs all that extra torque to pull the weight.
I mean you started this arguement. It’s pointless. What the hell do you drive anyway?
March 10th, 2010 at 12:49 am
eh id still take the snake…gtr is uuuuugly
March 10th, 2010 at 12:51 am
@CobraSVT23
dude are you just blind.. it is for a normal corvette.. not the grand sport.. keep looking.. i know corvettes.. and so what if its the grand sport anyway.. it only has 430 HP… compared to 540 for the gt500

@ELMER832007
Okay I see the 12.3 number listed in the more info section. This is for the new Grand Sport Corvette though. I thought you were talking about older model C6’s. The new Grand Sport shares some features from the Z06. The much heavier 2010 Shelby GT500 with a backseat….lol has been in the high 11’s bone stock. (Fast Fords and Muscle Mustangs) They like to slap Mickey’s on the rear, but were able to get in the 11’s with the stock F1 Good Year’s. The KR is also an 11’s car.

Like watching a fat hairy biker being machine-gunned by a Terminator.

@CobraSVT23
dude just check the normal C6 video here on youtube from edmunds.. it tells you in the “more info” section.. quarter in 12.3.. settled
March 10th, 2010 at 3:05 am
@ELMER832007
You said a bone stock C6 Vette. I did say high 12’s. Again it depends on the driver too.
The SS Camaro runs the quarter in like 13.4 I think. It’s too heavy. Hopefully they’ll have the SS Z28 with 550hp come out soon. Until then you have hennessey.

@CobraSVT23
dude come on man.. 13??? the new camaro SS does that.. not even edmunds will say 13.. yea i’m done

The C6 ranges from 12.7 to 13 depending on location. So it’s not better. My friend who is a stress engineer races Vettes. One of his Vettes is a C5 Z06 and he let me drive it. It’s definitely not as fast a stock Shelby plus you don’t feel the power. I don’t read Motor Trend. They are biased. I trust Edmunds reviews much more.
Everyone has C4’s, C5’s and C6’s where I live. There’s to many of them. I’d rather have the Snake. Plus it gets way more attention….rare.

@CobraSVT23
forgot the exact time but check motor trend..
i don’t think they improve personally
March 10th, 2010 at 5:20 am
this is bullshit

@ELMER832007
My GT500 isn’t stock…
There’s nothing wrong with liking Stangs. They’re great rides and easy on the eyes. The aftermarket for Stangs is huge. Lot more aftermarket parts for Mustangs than most other vehicles. Lots of fun to be had. Why do they sell so well and continue to improve??
What’s the quarter mile time for a plain stock C6?
March 10th, 2010 at 5:58 am
@CobraSVT23
well it’s not my fault you like mustangs.. even a normal C6 has better quarter mile times then a GT500.. stock for stock.. sure the ford has back seats.. but thats what sedan are for.. and a normal C6 starts in the low 50’s so they are well priced

@ELMER832007
The GT-R weighs almost 3900 lbs. The GT500 weighs roughly around 39280 lbs. Don’t act like it’s a light weight vehicle because it’s not.
Give me actual numbers if you want to argue. Yes I do like the blue oval, but I also love cars in general. I would love to have a ZR-1, but could only afford a $50K Shelby GT500 for now. A local dealer has a black ZR-1 for $119K….ouch.
