Tax reduction for feeding kids at your house?
Taxation January 16th, 2010I have 2 children who get watched by this lady who comes to my house to watch them. She also has 2 other kids she watches and brings them with her. I supply the food for all the kids, I heard I could get a tax reduction for feeding other kids. Is this true? What do I have to do? Thanks.

I’ve personally never heard of a tax reduction just for feeding children in your house. Now if you run an actual day care center from your home and provide food for the children then that would be a business related expense that can be tax deductible.
I can thing of places you could try to report the expense to receive a reduction but they expenses really don’t fit.

You heard wrong.
By the way, did you know that since you have somebody do day care in your home, you have a household employee and are probably subject to the “Nanny Tax”? You might want to read this publication to see if it is you: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p926.pdf

You heard wrong. You could probably negotiate with her to get a break on what you pay her for child care though.
