As the real estate business calms down, more people have divested to another money-making prospect with better investment opportunities.  Many people have started investing in stock options.

A stock option is an opportunity that gives any buyer the right to buy or sell stocks at an agreed price within an arranged date.  In UK it is known as a share option.  Between the date of purchase and the stock option’s expiration date, the option to buy or sell stocks can be exercised.  In Europe, however, the stock option can only be redeemed during the stock option’s expiration date.

There are generally two types of stock options.  The first one being called a “call” option gives the trader the right purchase the stocks at a price and date set.  Simply put, it gives the trader the right to “call” in, after which, it becomes the trader’s choice to purchase the stock or not.  A trader is required to purchase stock options in packages of 100 shares.  The trader may trade the option without even buying the stock, just like buying stocks only that it is purchased by 100s.  Once the option is sold, the new owner may sell the stock options at any time before its expiration date.

So if you buy shares from Microsoft Corporation at $100/share and the stock goes up by $10, then that is a $10 gain less the cost of the stock option.  The price of the stocks usually goes with the sales of the company.  So a company that is doing good business with sales soaring high, the price of stock per share is likewise raised.

The other type of stock option is “put” option.  “Put” stock options are bought because the trader believes that the stock is going down.  Wondering why?  Buying the “put” option gives the trader the right to sell or put the stock to someone else through a random process in a computer program.  Sometimes a “put” option is purchased to protect other stocks in their portfolio.  So if a trader is threatened of losing stocks because of slowing down in sales, it is right to purchase a “put” option for the stocks and risk losing big in investments.

Enough worries of the real estate market.  Start investing in stock options.  A good leveraging business and unless one knows how to play the game, money will surely grow in stock options.
